Jamia Millia to hold UG admissions through CUET only for 8 courses

Delhi’s Jamia Millia Islamia University will hold admissions through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) only for eight selected courses. Admissions for the remaining courses will be held as per earlier practice. Earlier on Monday, UGC chairman M Jagadesh Kumar had said that eight deemed-to-be universities including the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) and Jamia Hamdard have expressed a desire to use CUET scores to admit students to undergraduate courses. A fire broke out at the dumping yard of east Delhi’s Ghazipur area on Monday, fire officials said. Six fire tenders have reached the spot to bring the blaze under control, they said. A call was received around 2.30 pm about a fire in Khaata at Ghazipur, they said. The Delhi Assembly proceedings were adjourned for 15 minutes on Monday morning after AAP MLAs entered the well of the House shouting slogans over “derogatory” remarks made by Delhi BJP president Adesh Kumar Gupta against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. AAP MLA Mohinder Goel demanded an apology from Gupta and a censure motion against him. Speaker Ram Niwas Goel asked Mohinder to give his submission in writing and adjourned the House for 15 minutes amid sloganeering by the AAP MLAs..
