Tight security for REET or Dummy candidates cheaters using Bluetooth devices in slippers arrested three cops suspended

The REET teacher recruitment exam was held in Rajasthan amidst tight security yesterday. After reports of a possible paper leak, the government took extreme decisions and decided to shut off the internet connectivity in 16 districts of Rajasthan on Sunday, September 26 to prevent any cheating instances.
In Bikaner, five people were arrested after being found wearing slippers that hid Bluetooth devices to aid in cheating in the teacher recruitment exam. Dummy candidates from several other districts were also arrested. Among the arrested were two head constables and one constable as well who were aiding the whole cheating process.
Security measures for REET
Conducted by the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education, the exam was held in two shifts at 3,993 centres set up across 33 districts. As many as 16.51 lakh candidates had enrolled themselves for it. Rajasthan took various security measures to prevent people using unfair means including mobile internet suspension in 16 districts.
Dummy candidates arrested
Four dummy candidates were arrested in Dausa and eight in Jaipur. The police also busted several gangs involved in cheating in Bikaner, Ajmer, Pratapgarh, Sikar, Bharatpur and Jodhpur. Cheaters using Bluetooth and calling devices in slippers Sawai Madhopur saw three REET aspirants who were cheating using Bluetooth devices hidden inside their slippers.A small calling device connected with a SIM card was hidden inside their slippers while a tiny Bluetooth device was found fitted inside the candidates’ ears.
Each of these pairs of slippers costs 6 lakhs. They were provided by gang members to the candidates. Of those arrested, two were gang members who were arrested at a bus stand before the exam started. The police recovered the slippers and other devices during checking. After this, orders were issued for candidates to take off their slippers at a distance of 200 metres.
Cops suspended
Two policemen had been facilitating cheating cases in Sawai Madhopur which came to light. Head Constable Yaduveer Singh and Constable Devendra Singh have now been suspended. This was because the papers hadn’t been made available on time, Bhiwadi’s Superintendent of Police Ram Moorty Joshi told. This first shift of the exam would be conducted again, he said.
