The Maharashtra Class 12 board exam for chemistry has been allegedly leaked in Mumbai. Police suggest that the question paper could have been leaked by a coaching centre owner from Malad. Vile Parle Police arrested the owner of a coaching centre for allegedly being involved in the leak of the Class 12th Chemistry Paper.Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad, however, has called it a ‘false propoganda’. “Class 12 chemistry question paper is not leaked. The alleged leaked paper is torn, false propaganda is being spread through some social media. There is no fact in it," said Gaikwad. While Gaikwad denied the leak, she agreed that a female student had sneaked a mobile phone inside the exam hall and cheated by sending images of the question appear and receiving answers via images.Earlier many students and teachers took to social media sites including Twitter alleging that mass cheating is being held at several exam centres in Maharashtra. Students had alleged that photos of question paper and answers were shared via Snapchat. The specific app has a feature that allows a photo to disappear after being seen once. Earlier, Maharashtra Board class 12 English question paper had a statement credited to Ratan Tata which turned out to be a fake WhatsApp forward. After the issue was brought to light, the board decided to give extra mark to students for the question. The question had asked students to turn the quote to a ‘simple sentence.’ The board had provided a quote from Tata — “I don’t believe in taking right decisions, I take decisions and make them right." However, he had earlier clarified that it was not his ‘quote’. After the mistake came to light, the board has decided students who attempted to answer the question, will be given one mark.
